The Future... "jetsons" era?

"The internet will be a thriving, low-cost network of billions of devices by 2020, says a major survey of leading technology thinkers."
- Internet's future in 2020 debated BBC News Sept. '06

There are so many aspects to the internet today it is rather hard to be able to predict in detail the future of each of them. However, it is safe to say one thing: the internet will grow. I doubt that anyone, including the creators of the internet themselves, would have imagined that the internet would grow to be what it is today. So I believe that no matter how many predictions we make, it's growth will go beyond the realms of our imagination and astound us all.

There have been debates over the internet's future, mainly the manner in which it will be run and security issues (there are debates about this even with regard to the situation today).

It is no longer "will the day come we live the life of 'the jetsons'?" but "how far away is the day when we will live like 'the jetsons' or like the characters from 'futurama'. " We'll probably live in outer-space and still communicate via the internet! Who knows, maybe we'll even use it to travel from one place to another (I can't possibly imagine how, but "impossible" today is a relatively temporary term!) The key to the future of the internet is an unlimited imagination, determination, and (of course) a thorough knowledge of computer languages!

For those who are unfamiliar with who The Jetsons are, below is a link where you can find out!
